Aberystwyth University (AU) has been researching the control of parasitic helminths for over 80 years. This session will build upon your diagnostic understanding to improve fluke control linking to anthelmintic usage and environmental risk mapping. It will cover some of the latest AU research discoveries including the understanding of extracellular vesicles released by flukes and how they can be utilised for diagnostic development.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Examine how chemotherapeutic control of flukes is underpinned by effective diagnostics.
- Understand how diagnostics can be utilised for both the animal and the environment.
- Explore the roles of fluke extracellular vesicles and how they can be exploited for improved diagnostics.
