Beth Purse
Beth is an ecological modeller and senior scientist at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. She leads One Health inter-disciplinary projects in both India and the UK that integrate ecological surveys, participatory methods and modelling to understand socio-ecological processes driving zoonotic risks in changing ecosystems (https://indiazoorisk.ceh.ac.uk/; https://monkeyfeverrisk.ceh.ac.uk/) and co-develop decision support tools and risk guidance with local communities and decision makers. The UK Ticksolve (https://ticksolve.ceh.ac.uk/ and OPTICK projects (www.optick.ceh.ac.uk) investigate land use and climate change drivers of human and livestock tick-borne disease impacts to inform the evidence base for integrated cross-sectoral responses and interventions. Beth is an appointed member of DEFRA’s Scientific Advisory Committee on Exotic Diseases.
